Malam Nasir El-Rufai on Friday, 23 September 2016, performed the foundation laying for the $120m potato processing plant  being established by Vicampro in Manchok, Kaura local government of Kaduna State. The Governor welcomed the Vicampro investment as another validation of the efforts to make Kaduna State the investment destination of choice. The event was attended by Deputy Governor Barnabas Yusuf Bala (Bantex), CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele and Hajiya Aisha Abubukar, the Minister of State for Trade and Investment.

In its diversification push, the Kaduna State Government has identified Agriculture and Solid Minerals as sectors of comparative advantage. Following the 6-7 April 2016 Kaduna Economic and Investment Summit (KADInvest), Olam of Singapore conducted the groundbreaking for their $150m integrated poultry and feed mill project in Chicken local government, the largest in sub-Saharan Africa. More agro-allied projects are in the pipeline.
